Santa Maria Man Arrested After Attempted Murder Standoff

James Boyden, 53, was arrested in Santa Rosa on suspicion of attempted kidnapping and disorderly conduct after allegedly threatening a woman in her car while wielding a broken wine bottle. He is currently held in the Sonoma County jail with a bail set at $151,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27. In a separate incident, 22-year-old Alexis Perez-Alcantar was arrested in Santa Maria following a more than two-hour standoff with police; he is accused of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism related to a family dispute. Perez-Alcantar allegedly assaulted a family member and brandished a firearm before fleeing the scene, leading to a search and his eventual capture at a residence. He is being held on a $1 million bail. Both cases highlight rising concerns over public safety and violent incidents in California communities.
