46 murdered in Europe
Interpol, along with police from six European countries, has relaunched investigations into 46 women whose remains were discovered under suspicious circumstances, aiming to identify them through a campaign named Operation Identify Me. This effort builds on a successful 2023 initiative that sought to identify 22 women, resulting in 1,800 public tips and the identification of British woman Rita Roberts, whose remains were found 31 years ago. The campaign has now expanded to include cold cases from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Spain, emphasizing the importance of public involvement in solving these mysteries. Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock has highlighted that even small pieces of information can be critical in uncovering identities and delivering justice. The campaign features the publication of Black Notice alerts with physical descriptions and biometric data to solicit public assistance in these cases. The initiative aims to provide answers to families and to ensure that justice is served for these victims.
