Newcastle to Host Historic Mercury Prize Ceremony, October 16

The 2025 Mercury Prize ceremony will be held in Newcastle for the first time in the award's history, moving from its traditional London venue to the Utilita Arena. The event, set for October 16 and broadcast by the BBC, will feature live performances from shortlisted artists and culminate in the announcement of the Album of the Year. This move is part of a new partnership with Newcastle City Council and the North East Combined Authority, highlighting Newcastle's growing status as a cultural and musical hub. A week-long fringe program organized by Generator will celebrate northern talent and provide development opportunities for local artists.
