Fallout 76 Burning Springs Comes December; Ghoul Added
Bethesda’s Fallout 76: Burning Springs is the game’s largest update since 2020, a free December expansion that opens a new post‑nuclear region of Ohio centered on Highway Town and adds new factions, weapons, gear, pets like the Rad Hog and new fish. The update officially brings Walton Goggins’ Prime Video character The Ghoul into Fallout 76 as a non‑playable, non‑companion NPC who acts as a bounty middleman in Highway Town, issuing Grunt Hunt contracts whose completion can reward players with a version of his gun. New characters include the intelligent Super Mutant dubbed the Rust King, and the update adds new mechanics intended to appeal to both longtime survivors and newcomers. Bethesda will open a public test server on October 2, 2025, plans to release the full expansion in December to coincide with Prime Video’s Season 2, and will share more details during its "Fallout Day" presentation on October 23. Developers say The Ghoul’s inclusion fits the game’s earlier timeline without explaining why the character appears in Appalachia rather than New Vegas, and the DLC continues Fallout 76’s recovery by building on past expansions and the TV tie‑in to renew player interest.
