Oklahoma City Unveils $1B Arena Design Opening 2028

Oklahoma City has unveiled architectural renderings for a new $900 million to $1 billion arena set to open in late summer 2028, designed to be a state-of-the-art venue for the Oklahoma City Thunder and other entertainment events. The arena, designed by MANICA Architecture with TVS as the architect of record, will feature a distinctive 360-degree glass curtain wall offering panoramic views of downtown and the skyline, and will prioritize an intimate fan experience with a bowl-style seating arrangement that reduces overall capacity but brings fans closer to the court. Mayor David Holt highlighted the arena as a signature building intended to elevate the aesthetic and cultural profile of downtown Oklahoma City, describing it as a future city icon and one of the most beautiful arenas globally. The project includes extensive landscaping to integrate with the nearby Myriad Botanical Gardens and has been approved by voters, with the Thunder retaining options for the adjacent land. Season ticket members will be engaged in a seat selection process starting in 2026, with the goal of providing modern amenities to support world-class events while maintaining a timeless design. Thunder Chairman Clay Bennett praised the design as a transformative downtown landmark that captures the team's competitive spirit.
