Simu Liu to Star in Sleeping Dogs Movie

Simu Liu, star of Marvel's Shang-Chi, is actively working to bring a movie adaptation of the cult-classic video game Sleeping Dogs to fruition. Originally announced with Donnie Yen attached in 2017, the project was canceled but now sees renewed hope with Liu's involvement. Liu has expressed his long-standing interest in the game, which follows detective Wei Shen infiltrating a Triad syndicate in Hong Kong. As of now, he is in talks with the rights holders and aims to star in and produce the film. This development comes after Yen confirmed that his version of the project was scrapped, despite his personal investments and efforts over the years. Liu's enthusiasm suggests potential for not only a film but also a possible video game sequel.
