Confirmed Tornado Kills One in Kentucky
A confirmed EF-2 tornado with wind speeds of at least 125 mph struck Washington County, Kentucky, early Friday morning, killing 48-year-old Ronnie Hill and injuring at least seven others. The tornado destroyed several homes and caused major damage along Long Run Road. Emergency crews accounted for all residents, including a previously missing 3-year-old, and urged the public to avoid the area to aid recovery efforts. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear canceled planned trips to focus on the response and warned that additional storms could still affect Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings with only minutes of lead time due to the storm's rapid intensification and will continue damage assessments. This incident marks the 20th tornado-related fatality in Kentucky during a particularly dangerous spring of severe weather.
