Thousands Lose Power Across Connecticut, Massachusetts Due to High Winds

On Tuesday, strong wind gusts wreaked havoc across Massachusetts and Connecticut, leading to widespread power outages. In Massachusetts, nearly 25,743 customers were reported without power by early afternoon, with the South Shore particularly affected, including towns like Abington and Whitman. Wind gusts reached up to 64 mph in some areas, causing significant damage, including the collapse of scaffolding at a construction site in Quincy. In Connecticut, Eversource reported 662 outages, predominantly in Ashford and Monroe, as gusts peaked at 45 mph. The National Weather Service forecasted continued strong winds and the potential for snow accumulation overnight. Overall, the severe weather resulted in downed trees, construction damages, and numerous transportation delays, including at Logan Airport and the MBTA.
