Delaware Swears In First Veterans Affairs Secretary Brig. Gen. Karen Berry

Delaware has appointed Brigadier Gen. Karen Berry as its first Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading a newly established cabinet-level department aimed at better serving the state's over 70,000 veterans. The department, created by House Bill 1 and signed into law by Governor Matt Meyer, will improve outreach and ensure veterans are aware of and can access their benefits. Berry, a retired Delaware National Guard brigadier general, emphasized her commitment to supporting veterans and their families. Meanwhile, in North Carolina, Daniel H. Johnson was sworn in as the new Secretary of Transportation, succeeding Joey Hopkins. Appointed by Governor Josh Stein, Johnson brings experience from his previous role as deputy secretary and general counsel at NCDOT, as well as a background in law and military service. His priorities include infrastructure improvements, road safety, DMV wait time reduction, and hurricane recovery efforts, with a focus on western North Carolina's transportation needs.
