Detroit Red Wings Unveil Centennial Uniform for 2025-26 Season

The Detroit Red Wings have unveiled a special Centennial uniform to celebrate their 100th NHL season, honoring the franchise's rich history dating back to 1926 when they were initially known as the Detroit Cougars. The design incorporates historic elements such as the original Winged Wheel logo, the 'Olde English D' from the Cougars era, and striping inspired by the Detroit Falcons, reflecting the team's evolution before becoming the Red Wings in 1932. The uniform features a lace-up collar, matte red helmets, faux leather patches, and commemorates the franchise's 11 Stanley Cup-winning years inside the hem. This new jersey will be worn for more than a dozen home games and marks the team's first full-time alternate sweater outside of league-wide initiatives. Additional touches include a leather-like captain's patch and jock tag, a reimagined Hockeytown mark, and retro advertisements on the helmets, all designed to honor the legacy and tradition that define Red Wings hockey. The uniform debuts in the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens, a fellow Original Six team with whom the Red Wings share a longstanding rivalry.
