Two Train Collisions Leave One Dead, One Critical
A 97-year-old man was killed in Cohasset, Massachusetts, when his pickup truck was struck by an MBTA commuter rail train near 15 Beachwood Street at around 11:20 a.m. Saturday. Authorities said the man drove through fully functioning crossing gates and warning signals, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash, which took place at a 'no whistle zone' crossing on the Greenbush Line, is being investigated by MBTA Transit Police, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, and Cohasset Police. This marks the fourth train-vehicle fatality in Cohasset in four years, raising concerns about local rail safety. In a separate incident, a 21-year-old man in Minot, North Dakota, was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a train, with investigations ongoing. Local officials have extended condolences to the victims’ families.
