Apple Original Films Acquires Jason Segel Thriller Sponsor

Apple Studios has acquired the global rights to the psychological thriller "Sponsor," co-written by and starring Jason Segel, and directed by James Ponsoldt. The film follows Peter, played by Segel, who after a drunk-driving accident must choose between prison or a recovery program, where he meets a charismatic sponsor named Jerry. Produced by Platinum Dunes with Michael Bay among the producers, this project marks another collaboration between Segel and Ponsoldt, who previously worked together on the Emmy-nominated series "Shrinking" and the 2015 film "The End of the Tour." "Sponsor" will be filmed in California and adds to Apple Original Films' growing slate of award-winning features. The partnership highlights Apple's ongoing investment in high-profile, original content with established talent. Details on additional casting have not yet been announced.
