Jofra Archer Out of West Indies ODI Series
England fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies due to a right thumb injury sustained while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Archer will be reassessed by England's medical team over the next two weeks, leaving his participation in the England Lions' red-ball match against India A and the Test series against India uncertain. Lancashire's Luke Wood has replaced Archer in the ODI squad, with the series beginning on May 29 at Edgbaston. Archer has struggled with back and elbow problems since his last Test in 2021, and his absence is a setback for England as their bowling attack lacks experience following James Anderson's retirement. England had hoped to reintroduce Archer to red-ball cricket with the Lions ahead of a possible Ashes return later this year.
