Ahead of the Janmashtami celebrations, the Allahabad High Court has mandated the live-streaming of prayers from Vrindavan's Bankey Bihari Temple to manage crowds, following a stampede at the temple last year. The live-streaming will be confined to the temple interior and overseen by the district administration, in consultation with the Civil Judge, Junior Division, Mathura. Additionally, CCTV cameras will be installed and barricading measures will be implemented to control the influx of devotees, ensuring no overcrowding occurs. The state government has also proposed a scheme to develop the temple area and purchase approximately five acres of land to facilitate the devotees. The court has scheduled the next hearing for August 28 to review compliance. This decision follows the state's earlier unsuccessful crowd management attempts during major festivals.
