Train Stall Shuts Downtown Road; I-215 Night Closures

The Nevada Department of Transportation is conducting a pavement-preservation project on nearly four miles of I-215 between the I-15 interchange and Windmill Lane, with nightly lane and ramp restrictions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Oct. 3 and planned frontage-road and ramp closures Sept. 28–Oct. 2; motorists are urged to use alternate routes and check dot.nv.gov, nvroads.com, NDOT’s social channels or Waze for updates. Separately, a train stalled on the tracks at Wyoming Avenue near Industrial Road and Western in south downtown Las Vegas on Tuesday, blocking Wyoming between Industrial and Western and prompting multi-hour closures. The train first stopped shortly before 9:20 a.m., moved after nearly an hour, then stalled again, forcing drivers to make U-turns and prompting officials to recommend detours such as Sahara or Charleston boulevards. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the stoppage and are working to clear the tracks while advising motorists to avoid the area.
