Veteran Actor Frank Barrie Dies Aged 88
Frank Barrie, veteran actor known for playing Edward Bishop in 'EastEnders' and for his distinguished theatre career, has died peacefully at home at age 88, surrounded by his wife Mary and daughter Julia. Barrie was celebrated for his work with Sir Laurence Olivier’s National Theatre Company and for acclaimed Shakespearean roles, as well as for his one-man show 'Macready!' which toured 65 countries. His TV credits include over 150 appearances in series such as 'Emergency Ward 10', 'No Hiding Place', and 'Queen Of Swords'. He directed international tours of stage productions and wrote several plays, including 'The Other Woman' featuring Dame Thora Hird. Barrie met his wife while at Hull University, where he served as president of the debating union. Tributes from colleagues and fans have highlighted his legacy as a talented performer and respected mentor.
