Last Person Seen With Missing Pitt Student Leaves Dominican Republic

Joshua Riibe, the last person believed to have seen missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki, has returned to the U.S. following a nearly two-week period in the Dominican Republic, where he was subjected to police questioning and had his passport confiscated. Riibe, a senior at St. Cloud State University, had been under police supervision after Konanki disappeared on March 6 while they were on a spring break trip together. A Dominican judge ruled that he was no longer required to remain under police authority, allowing his departure from the country. Although Riibe has not been charged with any crime, he has stated that he cooperated fully with investigators. The search for Konanki continues, with authorities indicating they believe she may have drowned, although her body has not been found. Her parents have requested police to declare her dead after extensive search efforts yielded no results.
