Man Arrested After Fake Bomb Threat on Spirit Flight

John Charles Robinson, a 23-year-old from Monroe, Michigan, was arrested after calling in a fake bomb threat to Spirit Airlines Flight 2145 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, following his frustration at missing the flight and being required to rebook. The call, made early in the morning, claimed knowledge of a bombing attempt and led to the evacuation of passengers and a full security sweep by bomb-sniffing dogs and FBI agents. No explosives were found, and the threat was soon determined to be a hoax. Robinson was apprehended by the FBI when he returned to the airport for his rescheduled flight and admitted to making the call, permitting a device search. He faces federal charges for conveying false information about an attempt to damage an airplane and was released on a $10,000 bond.
