Acura RSX Electric SUV Production with LG Chem Announced

Honda has announced the upcoming release of its first in-house developed electric vehicle, the Acura RSX, set to debut in 2026. This new model marks a significant shift from Honda's previous reliance on General Motors' Ultium platform, with the RSX being built on Honda's proprietary EV architecture and featuring the Asimo operating system. Production will commence at Honda's new $4.4 billion EV Hub in Ohio, a joint venture with LG Chem, emphasizing Honda's commitment to electrification. The RSX, a coupe-style SUV, draws design cues from the Acura Performance EV Concept and aims to offer sporty performance with a minimum range of 300 miles. This move is part of Acura's strategy to regain market competitiveness after losing market share in 2024, reviving a classic nameplate last seen on a sporty coupe in the early 2000s and now representing a modern, electric performance crossover.
