Ex-NYC Councilman Arrested for Child Pornography

Former New York City Councilman Dan Halloran was arrested at Miami International Airport on charges of possession and transportation of child pornography. Authorities discovered 1,362 videos on his iPhone, with a significant portion involving child sexual abuse material. Halloran, who served on the council from 2010 to 2013, had been previously convicted on federal corruption and bribery charges, for which he served half of a 10-year sentence. The videos were hidden in a concealed folder, and Halloran admitted to purchasing some of the content through the messaging app Telegram. He was detained after arriving from Cuba and is now held at Miami's Federal Detention Center. This arrest adds to Halloran's history of legal troubles, following his involvement in a bribery scheme to influence a mayoral election.
