YouTube Tests AI Music Remix Feature

YouTube is expanding its generative AI music capabilities with a new feature allowing select creators to remix licensed songs. This 'Dream Track' experiment permits creators to describe how they wish to restyle a song, generating a unique 30-second audio clip while maintaining the essence of the original vocals and lyrics. Currently, the feature includes tracks from artists such as Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, and John Legend, although the exact list of eligible songs has not been disclosed. Attribution to the original songs will be provided in the Shorts and on the audio pivot page, ensuring proper credit is given. YouTube emphasizes its commitment to compensating artists and rightsholders for the use of their work in these AI features, having partnered with Universal Music Group for this purpose. In addition to the music remixing feature, YouTube is also introducing live-stream notifications within the Shorts feed.
