The discovery was made using canines and nonintrusive inspection technology, leading to the arrest of the driver by Homeland Security Investigations agents and the initiation of a federal criminal investigation. Port Director Michael Martinez emphasized the importance of such seizures in preventing dangerous drugs from reaching U.S. streets, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by border officials in intercepting sophisticated drug smuggling attempts. This bust follows other significant methamphetamine interdictions in the region, including a recent seizure of more than 1,700 pounds disguised as carrots at the Pharr International Bridge. The combined efforts demonstrate the vigilance and technology employed by CBP officers amid steady summer travel traffic. The vehicle involved in the bust was also confiscated as part of the enforcement action.
