Nigerian Artists Generate ₦58 Billion Royalties on Spotify in 2024
Nigerian music has achieved a significant financial milestone, with Spotify reporting that royalties generated by Nigerian artists surpassed ₦58 billion in 2024, more than double the earnings from 2023 and five times that of 2022. This growth is highlighted in Spotify's 2024 Loud & Clear report, which also noted a substantial increase in the number of Nigerian artists making over ₦10 million in royalties. Spotify's Sub-Saharan Africa Managing Director, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, emphasized the company's commitment to empowering Nigerian artists and supporting their creative talents. Additionally, the report revealed that Nigerian artists were discovered over 1 billion times by new listeners on the platform, alongside a 49% growth in music exports and a 206% increase in local content consumption. Overall, the report reflects the dynamic rise of Nigerian music on a global scale and Spotify's ongoing investment in the region's artistic community.
