Man Shot, Suspect Arrested in Midvale Shooting

A 41-year-old man was shot near 7200 South and State Street in Midvale late Thursday night and was transported to a hospital in fair condition. The Unified Police Department responded after the victim flagged down officers, and multiple shell casings were found at the scene. During the investigation, 23-year-old Dakota Pierce approached the crime scene and was arrested as the suspected shooter. A firearm believed to be related to the incident was also recovered by police. The area was temporarily closed for evidence collection but later reopened, and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. The suspect is currently in custody at the Salt Lake County Jail.
