Colts Defeat Chargers 38-24 at SoFi Stadium, Improve to 6-1 Season

The Indianapolis Colts routed the Los Angeles Chargers 38-24 at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 19 to move to 6-1 and sit atop the AFC South and the NFL scoring charts. Quarterback Daniel Jones was 23-of-34 for 288 yards and two touchdowns while Jonathan Taylor rushed 16 times for 94 yards, added three rushing TDs and three catches for 38 yards (132 total), his third three-touchdown game of the season. Indianapolis dominated early — leading 23-3 at halftime, forcing two turnovers (including an interception by Grover Stewart) and holding the Chargers to just 10 first-half rushing yards. Justin Herbert produced a career-high passing day (over 420 yards, three TDs and a franchise-record 37 completions) but the Chargers were undermined by offensive-line injuries, missed blocks and a defense that committed costly penalties and failed to stop the run. The Colts’ balanced attack under offensive play-caller Shane Steichen and consistent QB pressure (15 QB hits but only three sacks, two by DeForest Buckner) highlighted why Indianapolis is enjoying its best start since 2009.
