Coast Guard Searches After Deadly Florida Boat Capsize
A vessel with ten people aboard capsized around 29 miles off St. Lucie Inlet, Florida, resulting in one confirmed death, four rescues, and five individuals still missing. The survivors, hailing from the Dominican Republic and Haiti, reported the boat had capsized three days prior to their rescue after departing from the Bahamas. The U.S. Coast Guard, alerted by a good Samaritan, is leading a search operation using air and surface resources. Three rescued individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while one suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital in Stuart, Florida. The identities of those involved and the cause of the capsizing remain undisclosed as the investigation continues. Florida's coastline is a known route for dangerous maritime journeys from the Caribbean, often intercepted by the Coast Guard.
