Magic Circle Seeks to Reinvite Sophie Lloyd

Sophie Lloyd, an actress, successfully infiltrated the all-male Magic Circle society by posing as a man named Raymond Lloyd in the late 1980s, with the help of magician Jenny Winstanley. Despite her elaborate deception being deemed one of the greatest illusions in the society's history, she was expelled in 1991 after revealing her true identity when the society voted to allow female members. The Magic Circle, recognizing its past mistake, is now attempting to locate Lloyd to apologize and reinvite her, acknowledging her as a pioneer for women in magic. Presently, only 5% of the Magic Circle's 1,700 members are female, and the organization has evolved from its origins as a male-only club. Laura London, the first female chair, and President Marvin Berglas are leading the effort to find Lloyd. However, Lloyd has remained elusive, seemingly disappearing from the public eye after her expulsion, and the society hopes to honor her contributions by welcoming her back.
