Zimbabwe Women’s Cricket Team Plans Historic ICC Championship Debut in New Zealand 2026

The Zimbabwe women’s cricket team is set to make its historic debut in the ICC Women’s Championship during their tour of New Zealand in early 2026, marking their first participation in the 2025-2029 cycle. The tour will include three T20 Internationals in Hamilton and three One-Day Internationals in Dunedin, which are Zimbabwe’s first-ever matches against New Zealand in both formats. Zimbabwe’s inclusion expanded the championship from 10 to 11 teams, reflecting significant progress in their women’s cricket program and providing a pathway to qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2029. Over the four-year cycle, Zimbabwe will play eight three-match ODI series both at home and away against top international teams, enhancing their experience and competitiveness. This milestone is celebrated by Zimbabwe Cricket's management as a proud achievement and a sign of their continued investment in women's cricket. The championship now features 11 of the 12 ICC Full Members, with Afghanistan as the only exception due to political issues affecting their women's program.
