Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first bilateral visit to Brunei marks the elevation of diplomatic ties to an 'Enhanced Partnership,' coinciding with the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. Modi emphasized Brunei's significance in India's Act East Policy and Indo-Pacific Vision, and discussed expanding cooperation in sectors like defence, trade, energy, and cultural exchanges during his meeting with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Modi also inaugurated a new Indian High Commission chancery in Brunei and visited the iconic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. The visit included interactions with the Indian diaspora, acknowledging their contributions to Brunei's development. Following Brunei, Modi will proceed to Singapore to strengthen ties further.
