Belkin to End Wemo Device Support by 2026
Belkin will end support for most of its Wemo smart home devices on January 31, 2026, due to a shift in business priorities. After this date, the Wemo app, cloud features, remote access, and integrations with Amazon Alexa and Google Home will stop working, making many devices inoperable unless previously set up with Apple HomeKit. Only four newer Thread-based Wemo devices will remain operational via HomeKit. Customers with devices still under warranty as of the cutoff may be eligible for partial refunds, but claims can only be filed after support ends. Belkin has apologized for the inconvenience and advises users to recycle unsupported devices responsibly. The decision underscores the planned obsolescence risks in the smart home sector, as several impacted devices are relatively new.
