Fortunately, the man in his 50s inside the van escaped without serious injuries and did not require medical treatment. Emergency services responded promptly, closing off Pitt Street between Liverpool and Bathurst Streets, urging motorists to use alternative routes. Despite the chaos, a spokesperson for Sydney Metro confirmed that the incident would not affect the opening of the new Gadigal Metro station.
