Amazon to Cut Up to 30,000 Corporate Jobs
Amazon is set to cut up to 30,000 corporate jobs starting Tuesday, affecting roughly 10% of its about 350,000 corporate employees and a small share of its roughly 1.55 million global workforce. The reductions will span teams including People/HR, devices and services, operations and cloud divisions. Managers of impacted teams were asked to take training on how to communicate the cuts, and employees are expected to receive notice emails. Company leaders said the move is intended to trim costs, correct pandemic-era overhiring and embrace more AI-driven tools that will change how some work is done; the cuts follow about 27,000 roles eliminated beginning in late 2022. The announcement has drawn market attention, with analysts and traders monitoring potential impacts on investor sentiment and related tech and crypto assets ahead of Amazon's earnings.
