The group criticizes recent changes in content moderation by Meta and X, emphasizing the need for social media infrastructure that prioritizes public interest over profit. They plan to establish a public-interest foundation and an independent infrastructure to safeguard the platform's technology from corporate control. The campaign is led by nine custodians, including figures from the Mozilla Foundation and is set to provide a developer's fund for building social applications. The project's long-term goal is to empower users to control their social media experience and foster healthier online communities.
