A prolonged standoff in southeast Oklahoma City concluded with police shooting the suspect, Mario Cruz Gonzalez, after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers while attempting to escape. The incident began when Gonzalez, facing eviction, allegedly threatened and fired at his landlord and cut off electricity to the residence. After several hours of negotiations and multiple gunshots fired by Gonzalez, police were forced to act when he presented a direct threat. The suspect was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, while no officers or civilians were harmed. A separate standoff in Palm Desert involved a domestic violence suspect refusing to exit his residence, with negotiations still ongoing.
