26 Killed in Pahalgam Attack; Reward Announced
A terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 26 people and injured 20, leading police to offer a Rs 20 lakh reward for information leading to the arrest or neutralisation of the attackers. Authorities released sketches of three primary suspects, two identified as Pakistani nationals, and intelligence agencies named 14 local terrorists believed to be aiding Pakistan-backed groups Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the site, met with victims' families, and assured that the government would bring the perpetrators to justice. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), is the deadliest in the valley since 2019 and has prompted heightened security measures. Prime Minister Modi and top officials have condemned the attack and promised a strong response, including holding foreign backers accountable. Citizens are encouraged to provide information to police, with confidentiality guaranteed.
