Michael Murphy Returns to Donegal Football Panel

Michael Murphy, the legendary Donegal footballer, is set to return to the inter-county scene in 2025 after two years of retirement. The 35-year-old, who captained Donegal to All-Ireland glory in 2012, was persuaded back by manager Jim McGuinness. Despite stepping away in November 2022, Murphy has continued to excel at the club level with Glenswilly and has been involved in media work and the Football Review Committee. His return is seen as a significant boost for Donegal, who narrowly missed out on the All-Ireland finals this year. The new playing rules, which may provide more space for players, could have influenced his decision to come back. Donegal's first competitive match will be against Kerry on January 26, 2025.
