Orlen Signs LNG Deal with KN Energies
Polish energy company ORLEN has secured a five-year exclusive agreement with Lithuania’s KN Energies to utilize a small-scale LNG reloading station in Klaipėda, enhancing gas supplies to north-eastern Poland and the Baltic region. This partnership allows ORLEN to transport LNG to customers primarily via road tankers, significantly improving efficiency compared to relying solely on shipments from Poland's Świnoujście terminal. Since the start of a previous contract, ORLEN has received nearly 60,000 tonnes of LNG from the Klaipėda terminal. The agreement is effective until March 2030 and aims to bolster cooperation with neighboring Baltic countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. ORLEN's CEO highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration in optimizing logistics costs and reinforcing the company's market presence. Additionally, ORLEN is exploring investments in green hydrogen production as part of its renewable energy initiatives in Lithuania.
