Rick Moranis returns to acting, reprising his iconic role as Dark Helmet, alongside original stars Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, and George Wyner, while new cast members include Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan. The sequel, directed by Josh Greenbaum with a script co-written by Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez, is described as a "Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film," though plot details remain tightly under wraps.
