Roadworks, Crashes Disrupt Commutes; NJ Child Killed
Planned roadwork and repairs are disrupting commutes in several U.S. regions: North Caldwell will have paving on Fox Run with closures and no-parking rules on Oct. 3, 2025 (weather permitting), and Jackson Street in Dansville is closed from Mason to South Street through Saturday for repairs. South Fulton has begun a $6 million project to build dual roundabouts with sidewalks, lighting and landscaping at two dangerous intersections, with lane closures and detours expected and about a year to complete. Several crashes have caused major delays, including an early-morning crash on eastbound I‑84 near Robinson Road in Nampa that prompted long backups (Caldwell to downtown Boise commutes estimated at 80 minutes), a semi-involved non‑injury crash that narrowed lanes on Oklahoma City’s Broadway Extension, and a multi-vehicle collision that briefly blocked eastbound lanes on Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway before being cleared with no hospital transports reported. Northern New Jersey motorists faced multiple incidents — an overpass closure in Paramus, lane closures on NJ‑3 in Clifton, and an overturned tractor‑trailer on the Turnpike — snarling commutes across the region. A deadly pedestrian crash at Oak Street and Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland killed four-year-old Jalen Gomez and hospitalized three other children, highlighting safety shortfalls amid rising pedestrian deaths in New Jersey.
