Vietjet, AV AirFinance Sign $300 Million Fleet Expansion Deal

Vietjet Air has secured a financial agreement worth $300 million with AV AirFinance, part of a larger initiative involving over $4 billion in aircraft financing with U.S. institutions to bolster its fleet development. The signing ceremony, attended by Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, underscores efforts to deepen U.S.-Vietnam economic ties amid ongoing tariff tensions. Vietjet plans to take delivery of nearly 300 new aircraft, including a significant order of 200 Boeing 737 MAXs valued at over $24 billion, beginning in 2025. The airline aims to enhance its strategic partnerships with major U.S. corporations, including GE and Pratt & Whitney, while negotiations for additional contracts are expected to add another $14 billion. Vietjet's growth strategy focuses on modernizing its fleet and expanding its market presence in the Asia-Pacific region. This development coincides with Vietnam Airlines also seeking funding from Citibank, highlighting a broader trend in the Vietnamese aviation sector to secure financial support amidst changing trade dynamics.
