Jacksonville University (JU) has officially opened its new College of Law campus in the historic Atlantic Bank building, following a $12 million renovation, of which the City of Jacksonville contributed $6.5 million. The law school, which began classes in 2022, has grown significantly from its original location in VyStar Tower, now accommodating 86 students across its four floors of 50,000 square feet. JU President Tim Cost emphasized the importance of the new location in downtown Jacksonville, which allows students to be close to courthouses and legal offices, enhancing practical learning opportunities. Founding Dean Nick Allard highlighted the school's mission to address the growing need for quality legal services in the area. The opening marks a pivotal moment for JU, as it aims to expand its offerings and contribute to the local economy. Mayor Donna Deegan expressed pride in the new campus, viewing it as a cornerstone for future educational growth in the city.
