Texas Volleyball Remains Undefeated With Win Over Rice Led by Torrey Stafford

The Texas Longhorns volleyball team, currently ranked No. 2, improved to a 3-0 record by defeating Rice in a come-from-behind 3-1 victory. Junior outside hitter Torrey Stafford had a career night with 24 kills and a .457 hitting percentage, complementing her 12 digs and two service aces, while freshman Cari Spears matched her career high with 11 kills. Libero Emma Halter led the defense with 18 digs, supported by Ramsey Gary's 16 digs and first ace, contributing to the team's season-high six aces. The Longhorns dropped the first set but rallied to dominate the remaining sets, showcasing their resilience and depth. This win set the stage for their home debut at the Moody Center against No. 6 Stanford, marking the first volleyball match in the new venue which has a larger capacity than their usual Gregory Gymnasium. Meanwhile, Purdue's sophomore libero Ryan McAleer made history with a 30-dig performance in a 3-2 victory over Kansas, highlighting her as one of the program's best defensive players and energizing her team throughout the match.
