Birmingham Man Charged in Quadruple Homicide
Damien McDaniel, a 22-year-old man from Birmingham, has been charged with capital murder in connection with two mass shootings that left four people dead in July and another four in September, marking him as a key suspect in numerous violent incidents. He is accused of a total of 11 homicides and 29 injuries over five separate shootings within two months, including a September shooting outside a nightclub that injured 17. Alongside McDaniel, 27-year-old Hatarius Woods has also been charged in connection with the July shooting, with both men linked to approximately 30% of Birmingham's homicides during this period. The city has recently surpassed its previous homicide record, with Mayor Randall Woodfin highlighting the issue in a public address. McDaniel's criminal history includes previous charges of attempted murder, from which he was on probation at the time of these recent offenses. The investigation continues as law enforcement works to address the ongoing violence in the area.
