Six Shot, One Slashed in Four Brooklyn Incidents After West Indian Day Parade
Following the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn, multiple violent incidents occurred, including at least six shootings and one stabbing across Crown Heights. The attacks happened at various locations near the parade route, including Eastern Parkway, Utica Avenue, and Nostrand Avenue, with victims ranging from their 20s to 50s, some in critical condition. Police responded quickly and transported the wounded to Kings County Hospital, but no arrests have been made yet, and the suspect(s) remain at large. The shootings disrupted the annual cultural celebration which draws large crowds to honor Caribbean heritage. Community leaders and authorities have expressed concern and are calling for increased security measures to protect future events. The NYPD is actively investigating, reviewing surveillance footage, and urging the public to provide any information to help apprehend those responsible.
