Plane From Nashville Crashes in Illinois, Four Dead
Four people from Menomonie, Wisconsin—two men and two women—died when their Cessna C180G crashed near Trilla, Illinois, around 10:15 a.m. Saturday. The aircraft, en route from Nashville, Tennessee, struck power lines before crashing in a field near Coles County Memorial Airport. All victims were pronounced dead at the scene, and their identities are being withheld pending notification of their families. The Coles County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, FAA, and NTSB are involved in the investigation, with the NTSB expected to release a preliminary report in the coming weeks. Local authorities have closed roads near the crash site and urged the public to avoid the area. The crash adds to a recent series of fatal small aircraft accidents in the U.S.
