Airbus and ACI World
Airbus and Airports Council International (ACI) World have entered a cooperation agreement to significantly reduce the environmental impact of aviation, focusing on key areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), hydrogen technologies, and operational efficiency. This strategic alliance aims to foster knowledge exchange and establish unified policies to support sustainable aviation goals. Airbus Chief Sustainability Officer Julie Kitcher emphasized the partnership's role in influencing policies that drive innovation and decarbonization in the aviation sector. ACI World CEO Luis Felipe de Oliveira highlighted the commitment of airports worldwide to achieving a net-zero carbon aviation industry. Despite the collaboration, both Airbus and Boeing face challenges in scaling production and meeting the demand for new, fuel-efficient aircraft necessary for carbon neutrality by 2050. The aviation industry, responsible for 2.5 to 3 percent of global CO2 emissions, is under pressure to address these challenges as it aims for carbon neutrality within the next few decades.
