Electric school buses

Go-Ahead has announced a significant £500 million investment to transition to a zero-emission fleet, which includes the manufacture of up to 1,200 electric buses in partnership with Wrightbus. This initiative aims to create 500 manufacturing jobs and support an additional 2,000 jobs in the UK supply chain by 2026. Meanwhile, Biloxi Public Schools in Mississippi is set to acquire 29 electric school buses, enhancing air quality and reducing health risks associated with diesel emissions. The Scotland County R-1 School District in Missouri will also receive two electric school buses funded by an EPA grant, highlighting the shift towards cleaner school transportation. Additionally, in Australia, the introduction of the Volgren Optimus/Yutong E12 Battery Electric Bus aims to increase the country's electric bus fleet ahead of the 2032 Olympics. The Department for Transport in the UK has emphasized the environmental benefits of these electric buses, promising zero emissions and improved air quality in urban areas.
