Fairfield Police Shoot Armed Carjacking Suspect After Chase

A carjacking incident in Vacaville involving two armed suspects escalated into an officer-involved shooting in Fairfield after the suspects fired eight rounds at a victim, who was not hit but sustained a facial injury. Fairfield police, alerted by Flock license plate recognition cameras, located the stolen vehicle and engaged the suspects near Dover and East Tabor avenues. When one suspect, armed with a handgun, ignored police commands and pointed his weapon at an officer, the officer fired, wounding the suspect, who was subsequently hospitalized and is expected to survive. The second suspect was apprehended following a foot chase aided by a K9 unit. No officers were injured during the incident, which remains under investigation by the Solano County Officer-Involved Incident Protocol Team and the Major Crimes Taskforce. The case has resulted in multiple charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer, carjacking, and firearm-related offenses.
