Two Women Hospitalized After Dog Bites in New Canaan, Hialeah
Two separate dog bite incidents involving women occurred recently in different locations. In New Canaan's Waveny Park, a 52-year-old woman was bitten on her left arm by a large white dog that was on leash but not contained; she sustained several lacerations and swelling, and police are actively searching for the dog owner who has not yet been located. In Hialeah, a 57-year-old woman working as a caretaker was bitten by a dog at a residence on West 50th Place and was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The dog involved in the Hialeah attack has been quarantined, and authorities are investigating to understand what prompted the animal's aggression. Both incidents remain under investigation, and animal control officials are involved in managing the dogs. Police have indicated that dog owners in such cases may face civil liability and other penalties.
