Microsoft Debuts Xbox Adaptive Joystick at Ability Summit
Microsoft has launched its Xbox Adaptive Joystick, designed to assist gamers with limited mobility, as part of its ongoing accessibility initiatives. Available exclusively at the Microsoft Store for $29.99, the device includes seven remappable buttons and a clickable thumbstick, which can be customized using the Xbox Accessories app. Inspired by the design of the Nintendo Wii Nunchuk, the joystick can be used with an Xbox console, PC, or the Xbox Adaptive Controller. It also offers optional 3D-printed accessories, allowing further personalization for users with specific needs. The release of the joystick coincides with the 15th annual Microsoft Ability Summit, reinforcing Microsoft's commitment to accessibility for its 429 million players with disabilities worldwide. Alongside the joystick, Microsoft announced updates to its accessibility tools, including AI-enhanced features for Windows' Narrator and sign language recognition in Microsoft Teams.
